The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is seeking a Digital 
Repository Services Manager to be responsible for the design, development, 
implementation, maintenance, and expansion of systemwide institutional 
repository and digital asset management services in support of campus-led 
digital library initiatives. The Manager will work closely with campus 
libraries and academic technology departments to define needs, set out best 
practices, and develop and maintain systems and tools to support institutional 
repository projects. 

Systemwide Digital Library Services (SDLS) develops and manages a wide variety 
of information systems aimed at providing greater access to the collections and 
services of the CSU Libraries.

THIS POSITION WILL BE LOCATED AT THE CHANCELLOR'S OFFICE, SONOMA STATE 
UNIVERSITY CDL, OR A CSU CAMPUS.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities 
Under the general direction of the Director, Systemwide Digital Library 
Services the a Digital Repository Services Manager will:
-Provide leadership and expertise in the installation and management of 
institutional repository and digital asset management software, with a current 
focus on Hydra / Samvera;
-Provide overall planning and management of the digital repository 
infrastructure of servers, storage, back-up and disaster recovery, primarily 
focused around Amazon Web Service;.
-Work with Chancellor's Office Data Center staff to define and develop a 
supporting infrastructure for institutional repository systems and services, 
including compliance with CSU guidelines for application development, testing, 
security, and disaster recovery;
-Collaborate with SDLS, campus staff, and CO consultants to customize 
applications to meet the various use cases and the specialized needs of each 
campus and academic technology group's repository;
-In consultation with the CSU libraries and academic technology groups, 
identify new features and functionality needed to support CSU digital 
repositories;
-Identify any gaps in process, documentation, or procedure, and provide 
solutions for these;
-Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications 
This position requires:
-A Master's degree in Library and Information Science, or a bachelor's degree 
and five years' of progressively responsible information technology experience.
The Manager works closely with librarians, administrators, and academic 
technology staff across the CSU to identify institutional repository needs. The 
incumbent will also manage the work of consultants and campus IT staff in the 
implementation and support of systemwide institutional repository and discovery 
projects, and therefore requires:
-5+ years of experience working in university libraries or academic technology 
departments;
-Experience in designing, delivering, and maintaining web applications in 
support of academic libraries;
-Knowledge of and experience working with library systems, with a preference 
given to experience working with institutional repository systems;
-Knowledge of and experience working with library metadata standards and 
protocols, including MARC and Dublin Core;
-Strong creative, conceptual, and problem-solving skills;
-Strong oral and written communication skills.
This position involves the research, design, development, and maintenance of 
open source systems.The incumbent will therefore need significant previous 
experience developing and deploying large web applications, including:
-5+ years of experience in object-oriented programming, including a thorough 
knowledge of at least one high-level programming language (e.g. Java, PHP, 
Ruby, Python);
-Demonstrated proficiency in developing web applications using modern web 
development frameworks, relational databases, and indexing technologies;
-Experience deploying open-source software in academic libraries;
-Experience in structured software testing and version control.
