Dartmouth College Library is recruiting a User Experience Designer to join a 
collaborative and dynamic team focused on continuously innovating and designing 
for the Library’s website and web applications. The position will help to build 
a cohesive and comprehensive plan for our web content strategy, and will 
provide guidance and support in centering user experience design in projects 
and initiatives. As a member of the Digital Library Technologies Group and 
reporting to the Manager of Digital Scholarly Software & Systems, this 
position joins a team of highly-collaborative, supportive, and service-oriented 
professionals. Partnering with stakeholders and colleagues across the 
organization, this role will lead in the development of compelling, inclusive 
and accessible content on the Library’s websites, delivered on various 
platforms and technologies. Work will include evaluating and improving the 
online user experience for students, faculty and staff and developing a 
systematic approach to regular assessment. This position will also contribute 
to other digital scholarly infrastructure, including digital library projects, 
initiatives, and digital publishing platforms. 

Key qualifications include experience in designing and implementing web and 
digital content, as well as awareness of user experience design, web standards 
and accessibility. Candidates should have strong collaboration and 
communication skills and the ability to lead projects with a wide range of 
participants, as well as an ability to help others understand and work with web 
technologies.

Note: Remote/Hybrid working options available for this position.

support, and works collaboratively with groups across the Library and 
organization. Collectively the group is responsible for close to fifty major 
systems. Current Digital Scholarly Software & Systems project areas include 
a library website redesign in Drupal, a move to containerized applications 
using Kubernetes, support for digital preservation and digital collections 
using a range of local, open source, and proprietary software and systems, and 
support for digital publishing, research data, and digital humanities 
technologies.
