The NC State University Libraries invites applications and nominations for the 
position of Information Technology Services Manager. The Information Technology 
department includes 18 staff across three units: Technology Services, 
Enterprise Operations, and AV Technologies. The department is critical to the 
Libraries’ success in charting a new path for research libraries, with an 
emphasis on developing and supporting information and academic technology 
solutions for the Libraries. Department staff ensure the sustainable operation 
of technology-enabled services and spaces and provide leadership in defining 
technology requirements for library-wide initiatives and projects.

Consisting of 6 technology professionals, the Technology Services unit is 
responsible for the Libraries’ staff and patron computing environment, 
including deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting of endpoint hardware 
and software, liaising with campus IT to support networking, and collaborating 
with stakeholders to identify creative solutions for technology needs. Unit 
staff also manage the IT Service Desk, which provides direct assistance to 
Libraries staff. In addition to a Learning Commons lab space at both main 
libraries, the Technology Services unit supports a large laptop lending program 
and numerous specialty computing spaces, such as the Digital Media Lab, the 
Data Experience Lab, and the Virtual Reality Studio.

The Libraries supports flexible work arrangements, with the expectation that 
this position will work onsite the majority of the time.

Responsibilities

The Information Technology Services Manager reports to the Director of 
Information Technology. The incumbent oversees daily operations of the 
Technology Services unit, and provides supervision for 6 staff and a varying 
number of student assistants. They manage the Libraries IT Service Desk 
operations and oversee computing support, network services, communication 
technology, and technical training for Libraries staff. They lead the 
Libraries’ annual computing refresh process and contribute to the development 
of the annual IT budget.  They provide consultations and facilitate technical 
solution development with stakeholders across the Libraries, and prioritize 
staff and budgetary resources to ensure projects are completed in a timely 
fashion.  The incumbent recruits and mentors Technology Services staff, and 
fosters a collaborative and inclusive team environment that encourages 
professional growth and development. They participate in library planning, 
serve on library-wide committees and task forces, and represent the Libraries 
in the NC State University IT community.

Minimum salary: $100,000 annually. Review of applications is underway; position

flexible during this time and will conduct most or all of this search remotely.
