If instead you used "members of the community," the subject would be the plural "members" and the verb and possessive pronoun would be plural, "Members of the community are invited to share their thoughts." When the subject is an individual who uses "they" pronouns (or a royal in the royal "We" mode), the verb and possessive pronoun would be plural form. A grammar checker isn't going to get that right.
