I agree about NOID (not surprisingly, as I maintain the code :-), and we
have a new service called EZID (easy-eye-dee) that uses NOID for minting,
describing, and resolving identifiers. Currently it supports ARKs and
DOIs, but we'll be adding support for other schemes.
You don't need an account to practice all of EZID's functionality on
temporary identifiers. See the Help tab at

Hi all,
We want to use urls in our MARC records and EAD to link to content in =
our Fedora repository as well as things like web pages on our company's =
website. What are you folks using out there for this? The Handle =
System seems to be a good choice, or a purl service. I might also use =
it to link to Fedora content as well.
Ideas, suggestions?
