I am currently experimenting with Meraki (http://meraki.cisco.com/) to help
with remote management and tracking in the event that an iPad is lost or
stolen. This mobile device manager allows you to use an Apple Management
profile in combination with an app to send notification, install apps remotely,
do location tracking, and remotely lock down or wipe the device. It's not bad
for a free service.

Most forums have tried pointing me to MobiControl for some of this, but it is
currently out of the projects price range.

Good Luck

Subject: [CODE4LIB] locking app for iPads

Dear Fellow Techs,

We're looking to create a circulation policy for iPads (gen 4) in the Learning
Commons, and were wondering about an app that will lock the device after a
specific amount of time (3-4 hours). The idea is if a student does, in fact,
steal the device, they will be locked out of actually utilizing it. Has anyone
heard of something like this?

Many thanks!
Cheryl
