Additional Information Purpose Perform software development in support of digital curation activities in the Library Information Technology Architecture and Strategy (ITAS) unit of the University of Texas Libraries. Essential Functions Perform software development, analysis, and integration with Libraries' infrastructure, including testing, and debugging. Communicate with Libraries' application users and constituents regarding software development projects. Prepare application documentation including functional and technical applications Conduct project and status meetings with library staff and the campus community Marginal/Incidental functions Other related functions as assigned. Required qualifications One year of experience in application programming, analysis, and system design. Demonstrated ability to analyze, test, and debug complex code. One year of experience in application programming, analysis, and system design. Demonstrated ability to analyze, test, and debug complex code. At least one year of experience using Java for web application development in a production environment, and experience with at least one other high-level programming language, such as PHP, Python, or Ruby. Experience with a relational database management system, such as MySQL, Oracle, or MS SQL. Experience with the MVC design pattern. Familiarity with widely used web services/protocols/formats, including XML, XSLT, REST and SOAP. Familiarity with UNIX operating systems. Demonstrated ability to write secure code. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational and team work skills. Attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree. More than two years of experience in application programming, analysis and system design. Experience with XML database technology. Experience with Fedora Commons digital repository software and the Spring application development framework. Experience with build automation tools, such as Maven or Ant. Experience with a testing framework such as JUnit. Experience with metadata standards related to digital libraries and institutional repositories. Experience with digital preservation standards and practices. Experience in a digital library environment. Experience with Agile software development methodologies and tools. Experience with user interface design. Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Working conditions May work around standard office conditions Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Use of manual dexterity Work performed on concurrent multiple projects under pressure of rigid deadlines or time limitations.
