Digital Asset Management Consultant
Smithsonian Institution
Washington, D.C.

The Smithsonian's Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) is conducting
a search for a qualified contractor to conduct a detailed requirements
assessment and market analysis for a multi-format Smithsonian Digital Asset
Delivery Service to deliver images, audio, video, and pdf format files from
the Smithsonian Digital Asset Management System (DAMS) repository to external
distribution channels.

The DAMS is architected as the Smithsonian's digital vault and asset
repository and is only accessible internally behind the SI firewall by
Smithsonian staff. However, the Smithsonian units have unique and common
requirements to re-use, repurpose, and deliver the assets from the DAMS to
many external channels. The Smithsonian has already
developed an Image Delivery Service (IDS) to address the requirement of
delivering derivative images from the DAMS. The IDS has
proven to be a key element in the delivery of digital assets to Smithsonian
public facing websites including the Collections Search Center (CSC) at
http://collections.si.edu and SIRIS at http://siris.si.edu, and has opened up
the possibility of sharing digital assets across the Smithsonian. SI is
interested in developing capacity to deliver other types of assets stored in
the DAMS.

A key task is to evaluate and assess the existing DAMS and IDS asset delivery
functionality and infrastructure, identify the Units' other asset delivery
needs for other formats not supported by IDS, and prepare a
detailed asset delivery requirements document.

Qualifications range from experience with digital video, audio, and imaging
file formats, experience gathering system and user requirements, experience
writing systems analysis and requirements documents as well as additional
skills outlined in the SOW.

If interested, please send an email directly to Vicki Cataneo at
cattan...@si.edu requesting information by 5:00 Eastern time on Friday October
30, 2015.
