I don't think it is ethical or professional on your part to mention his

the chances for him to clarify his position, right or wrong, is

Common !
My question is to you: are you benefited by his work one way or the
other despite your opinion of him ?
Definately! Guido is great. Python is great. But that doesn't mean we
can't or shouldn't look critically at python -- or any language for
that matter. In fact I think Guido would encourage such behaviour,
even if he didn't agree with the conclusions. The fact that python is
a language which seems to be constantly and consistently evolving, and
yet manages to do so in a relatively pain free way. (Not that I
haven't run into problems, but its been fairly good.)
It's good that there is a positive judgment of his work i.e., python, to
counterweight
only the negatives. At least the balance is somewhat restored, although,
I believe that there
are many many more positives to GvR's work than what I, at least, made to
believe. To tell you the truth it looks like he is a villain from the
previous
postings.
I totally agree with you in the general principle that there are bound to be
criticisms in his work and that is good because that is one way for him to
'adjust' and modify python as you pointed out. It's not productive to be
personal, however.
This lists is, also, remotely accessible to GvR and is worthless to be
posting
criticisms (personal at that) against him here by using his name.
I also am working using Python when I started to learn Ruby since two
months ago. I'm converting a financial systems into Python, Ruby,
ActiveRecord, and
other scripting languages at the same time. I can see the stark differences
of these languages as they apply to this financial systems. Nothing
will change for me by making a blow-by-blow critic except to work-around
them much more disparage the authors of these languages.
