Wie ich h�re kann ich in den n�chsten zwei Wochen jedermann als Longhorn
Beta-Tester nominieren. Nominierung heisst erstmal keine definitive Zusage,
aber besondere Kriterien sind auch nicht benannt. Wer Interesse hat und
auch ernsthaft Zeit investieren kann und will meldet sich bitte per private
Mail bei mir mit den unten geforderten Angaben. Bitte macht es mir einfach,
die Daten zu �bertragen: eine Zeile pro Angabe, Nutzdaten only, Sch�nheit
sparen wir uns.

What versions of Longhorn does this program cover?
* This beta program is designed to gather feedback on both the client and
server versions of Longhorn
* Additionally, this is the technical beta program for Internet Explorer 7.
Participants will be able to install and test Internet Explorer 7 on Windows
XP and Windows Server 2003.
Who would be good candidates to participate?
* Any customer or partner, 18 years or older, who is willing to install the
pre-release builds and provide us with their feedback AND
* Who is willing to either self host Longhorn or subject it to some tests
using their typical or expected computing environment AND
* Who has a good working knowledge of using and troubleshooting Windows OR
* Partners or customers, who already have an established relationship with
your team, but who need access to regular builds.
Who are not appropriate candidates for the Technical Beta?
* Novice and end user consumers. No phone support is provided and
participants may encounter potentially serious bugs requiring good
troubleshooting and recovery skills OR
* Customers & Partners requiring a "high touch" relationship from the beta
team. The technical beta is a broad coverage, volume based program.
What should a person have to participate?
* A PC generally capable of running Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 well.
Actual system requirements for Longhorn are not finalized.
* Sufficient free time and technical ability to install the operating
system and work through problems unassisted. The beta is not intended for
novice users and no phone support is provided. People will be expected to,
at a minimum, report bugs that they find.
* Broadband Internet access and a CD or DVD burner to download and install
refreshed (interim) builds.
What should a participant expect from Microsoft?
* Milestone builds, Beta and RC, shipped to them on DVD media (at their
option)
* Communications about releases from the beta team via email.
* Access to the WDK and SDK
* Milestone builds and regular refreshes (IDW/IDS quality) available for
download from US, European and Asian locations.
* The ability to report, update and track status of bugs.
* Private newsgroups for discussion with other testers and to get limited
technical support.
* The option to participate in more in depth testing efforts.
