Uhmm... no. You never re-did the site. You re-did the front page. There is more than one page on the site.
Well, we've gone there and done that and it's not going to
happen.
I had no illusions that it would. I've been arguing for usability for a long time, but when I submit a rewrite for a page, wether simple or or elaborate, it just sits in IZ forever (e.g. 42036). You seem to think that fixing usability means changing the CSS and colours. Several months ago I tried to get the usability improved. Instead, we spent several months designing a new CSS and colours. My original suggestions were simple, and would have improved usability. Instead we did something very difficult to do, we got a cool-looking page, but usability is not better. One struggles as much as before to find information. I am again saying that we need to improve usability. But you seem to think that I'm proposing a new home page design.
You are free to create a new site, of course, outside of OOo. But most of what that Robert has written and you have seconded Daniel leads me to believe it will be simply competing with OOo.
Disclaimer: I did not say +1 to a new site outside OOo. I'm not even clear what spreadOOo is about. I said +1 to Robert's points on usability (e.g. too many and too wordy paragraphs, and how they cause users to skim and not actually find what they need).
I hope that makes what I said clearer. You're right that this diverted from the original topic. I simply agreed with some basic points on usability.
Best, Daniel.
