Hi Steven,
Jumping through your lines :

It is very important to have an active booth. A booth with a table and
threee chairs with 3 volunteers staring at their laptop is the worst
case scenario.
In general, we are busy demonstrating OOo :)
Things should move. Ideally get 3 people per table. The
candy is great and cheap, but tie a cord with a card on it. The card
should be clear, stating the booth number, what you do, why you are
there and how you can be reached (not a website but an email!!!!)
Yes having cards with address of the site and contact is very important
outside the exhibit. Have 2 people, one on each side of the 'alley?'
your in distributing the candy and adressing the people load and clear
using some humor. A third person should be active in the booth, even if
it is tieing the cards to the candy. sitting, drinking, reading, ... are
simply not done...
Well, OOo booth are quite solicited so I don't think members sleep on
them ;) But of course, you're right.
If visitor numbers seem low in the morning, keep one person in the booth
and walk along the other boots, talk to people, get them to visit yours!
the visitors profile:
- targetted: they know what they want to see and go straight at it. You
might be one of their planned visits but if your booth is inactive they
may want to skip you to save time for that other one that is just a tad
more important. These are very, very, very bad waste not to get them.
- lurkers: they come and see whats there... they are usually interested
in learning about new things... and will react to you janding out candy
:) they are the most relaxed.
- other boothies: very important!! visti them and they will visit you
back. drinks and coffee are not for normal visitors but to be used for
other boothies. they migth be bored with their own stuff but have the
right profile to become a great supporter of yours. many first contacts
for job changes occur on exhibits and this is not different...
Thanks for your helpful advices.
Kind regards
Sophie
