Hi comunity,
I am pleased to announce the new OpenTemplate.org website. This site
will include templates for OOo, we are inviting the community to upload
their templates to this new site that include comments from the
community as well as profiles, discussion boards, languages and
categories depending the OpenOffice.org module. Everyone is invited to
contribute and upload their best templates.
The site URL is: http://opentemplates.org
Thanks for the announcement! But is there a reason you chose to situate
the templates off the OOo site? And I assume you are also working with
the Documentation project?
Surely, first off, the technology was already implemented as with many
opendesktop.org sites it has a complete stack already set in place. Only
tiny modifications were needed like adding a language field.
Second is not really clear to me how to implement the application stack on
services.openoffice.org.
Third, I dont have the hassle of mantaining the application since it lives
on the Opendesktop.org family of sites so it make sense that
Opentemplate.org will find a more suitable team on OpenDesktop.org.
A forth reason, this was an idea from both Frank Karlitschek and me while
being at the KDE release party. Frank is the owner of these servers.
