I want to start this thread about the conversation on what the different NGO's
of OOo can do on their localities and how to best operate to push the OOo name
in society. Basically I have been exchanging some information with MarCons and
project leads about different areas including:
CommunityOpportunities in academic markets
Opportuntiies in business marketsDeveloper community and contributing codeEvent
developmentMoney raising ideasSome of the ideas and tips might have been tied
to the local opportunities of each area but some others can also be leveraged
throughout the community regardless of location or language barriers.

So far I have talked with Florian from the German community, Richard from the Swiss organization, Charles from France and Claudio from Brazil. The need seems to be equal, we all want to see a stronger community. Some have succeed more than others and some have had issues regarding budget or just lack of direction on where to push it correctly. Some of the events have been successful with other communities such as the business communities. This legacy could be replicated under business consortium and other relevant organizations. Please ask florian for the business event the German community. One of the areas that we have been desperately looking for has been on ways that we can enforce the development community and activities to educate how developers can contribute code to the core as well as extensions and others.
We have agreed that we need better communication with OpenOffice.org technical needs,
support to open standards, update general engines such as multimedia including image
rendering, flash engine, general UX and a more web 2.0 orientation. The Education project
has successfully start programs that include schools into development programs to produce
and solve development "efforts". If you think you can contribute to this
project, it would be helpful to open communication with these projects. If you think that
education projects will be able to open the channel and put development projects as part
of innovation programs in the computer science school. So far we have been successful in
Canada, France and India, but we are looking actively into other countries.

Finally I would like to focus the conversation on money raising activities, such as an OOo store. Increase our brand adopting and rejuvenating the "mascot" so we could be able to market and promote it. Please feel free to work with the Art project to improve the overall image of OOo. OpenOffice.org could use of a store that can concentrate the swag, t-shirt and ideas like an open standards such as ODF and free your document campaigns.
Just to avoid making this email longer that what already is, feel free to add
me and start communicating these ideas and bring your own:
