Subject: [PATCH] Support pytest 9.1
The issue reported at[1] is actually a red herring, and the real cause
of the failure with pytest 9.1 is documented here[2]. Use a classmethod
decorator.
This reverts commit 63a9ad1cc2998c3961e49e6b752940077fac70c5.
