Subject: [PATCH 1/2] Support building with flit_core v4
Fixes #2956.
PEP 621 requires the plural 'authors' key; flit_core v3
tolerated the singular 'author' but v4 validates strictly and
raises ConfigError. Widen the build-system pin from <4 to <5
per the flit v4 changelog guidance for [project]-table users.
