Review Comment:
   Yes, the test will fail if the docs aren't built, because it explicitly 
tries to build the docs as part of the test:
   ```
   subprocess.run([sphinx, "-b", "html", "-q", str(docs_dir), str(build_dir)], 
check=True)
   inv_path = build_dir / "objects.inv"
   assert inv_path.exists(), "objects.inv not found after docs build"
   ```
   So, the test already checks for the inventory file’s existence after 
attempting to build the docs.
