Asset Partitioning support is being implemented in Airflow https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=311626969 - we had a demo of it last week at the dev call. Backfilling partitions **DOES** make sense when they are implemented. And then AIP to extend backfills to support asset partitioning is probably the right way to go if you are talking about partitions. NOT EVENTS. It should be based on partititions. As mentioned and explained multiple times - events is not a good idea to base your backfills one. But if your assets have partitions, then you can backfill partitions. That makes PERFECT sense. So if any of you would like to take it on and make an AIP for partition back-filling, I am quite sure it will be very well received.
