Cherry-pick of #61917 for the Airflow 3.2.2 patch release. Previously parked because it depended on #65276 (`_configure_async_session` `engine_args` block). Now that #66866 (#65276 backport) has merged to v3-2-test, this cherry-picks cleanly with no conflicts.
