Thanks for picking this up, and nice first PR — the split is the right approach and the regression tests are clean (they ran on real MySQL/Postgres in CI). The one thing that would move it toward merge: a before/after showing the deadlock actually clearing under concurrent load (left a note inline on the test with a cheap repro).
