viukpe opened a new pull request, #74210:
URL: https://github.com/apache/airflow/pull/74210
select.select() is backed by a fixed-size fd_set capped at FD_SETSIZE (1024)
and raises 'filedescriptor out of range in select()' when the SSH channel's
file-descriptor number is >= 1024. This happens when the task process already
holds many open descriptors, which the Airflow 3.x Task SDK makes easy to hit
even for a single SSHOperator task. ulimit does not help because the limit is
compile-time, not RLIMIT_NOFILE.
Replace the select.select() read loop with selectors.DefaultSelector
(epoll/poll), which has no FD_SETSIZE ceiling. Behaviour is otherwise
unchanged. Update test_command_timeout_fail to patch selectors and add a
regression test exercising a channel fd >= 1024.
Fixes: #74205
