We meant to use a global variable in the path to shorten the classpath 
expression. So yes, M2_REPO="%M2%"

But then the shell still expanded the path :(

Eventually using Buildr settings YAML file, we could set global variables in 
there to make use of global variables. We could not make it happen for now, I 
have a Windows 7 VM to try it out later.
