_Claude Code on behalf of Claus Ibsen._

Camel main removed two components the catalog still uses. They are gone in
Camel **4.23.0**, which this catalog's `main` builds against (4.23.0-SNAPSHOT):

   | Camel component | Removed in apache/camel | Kamelets that use it |
   |---|---|---|
   | `camel-splunk` | 53912a500d66 "Removal of Splunk" (Aug 27 2026) |
`splunk-sink`, `splunk-source` |
   | `camel-json-patch` | 2c538511af7f "Removal of json-patch component" (Aug
27 2026) | `json-patch-action` |

With Camel 4.23, these three Kamelets declare `camel:splunk` /
`camel:json-patch`, which can no longer be resolved, and their templates use
endpoints whose components don't exist. They would fail as soon as a route uses
them.

#2890 decided on Sep 29 to "keep as-is until Camel actually removes these
components". The refresh behind that decision was against Camel 4.22.0, where
both were still present, so it couldn't show the removal on main. That
condition is now met. `paho`, also in #2890, is still in Camel, so the `mqtt-*`
Kamelets are not affected.

**Proposal: remove the three Kamelets for the 4.23.0 release.** The files
that reference them:

   - `kamelets/splunk-sink.kamelet.yaml`,
`kamelets/splunk-source.kamelet.yaml`,
`kamelets/json-patch-action.kamelet.yaml`, and their copies under
`library/camel-kamelets/src/main/resources/kamelets/`
   - `templates/pipes/camel-k/` and `templates/pipes/core/`:
`splunk-sink-pipe.yaml`, `splunk-source-pipe.yaml`,
`json-patch-action-pipe.yaml`
   - `docs/modules/ROOT/partials/splunk-source-description.adoc`, plus the
generated `docs/modules/ROOT/nav.adoc` and the per-Kamelet pages
   -
`library/camel-kamelets-catalog/src/test/java/org/apache/camel/kamelets/catalog/KameletsCatalogTest.java`,
 which references them
   - `camel-kamelets-sbom/camel-kamelets-catalog-sbom.json`, which is
regenerated
   - A CHANGELOG / upgrade note for users: for Splunk HEC publishing,
`splunk-hec-sink` remains; Splunk search (`splunk-source`) and JSON Patch have
no replacement.

The 4.22.x line of the catalog keeps them, as Camel 4.22 still has both
components.

Found while normalizing the catalog to canonical YAML DSL (#3089): a new
check of each Kamelet's `camel:` dependencies against the Camel catalog flagged
these three.
