Played with this some more on my machine, and I still can't get it to compile
on trunk (java 8) with ant 1.8.4.
If [~mshuler], or anyone else, can confirm the changes work with java 8 and ant
1.8.x (trunk or 2.2), I'm happy to chalk it up to my machine and go ahead and
commit.
