Although I realize that we don't promote third party plugins, I also don't see
how merging the PR would solve the visibility issue. There's zero documentation
included. How would users even know about this new functionality in Cassandra?
As for our plugin APIs, my impression is that we did a decent job in the past
to keep them compatible across version. This might also be due to the fact that
Cassandra's largest contributor is making use of at least some APIs to
implement and offer proprietary extensions. It's in everyone's interest to keep
APIs stable and at least deprecate APIs in a controlled way. But this is just
my point of view and this is something that should be discussed on the dev list
instead for broader consensus. Your feedback and sharing your expectations as
developer is most welcome.
