For our environment, the plan is to default to true, so I am ok with this.
Another option is to default this to false for now and after "some time" we
change the default to true... the hard part is when "some time" is as this is
super edge case-y (small number of times within a year).
Ill leave this open for now, give time for [~samt] to comment as well.

I am a fan of feature flags, so rather keep it to revert back if there is ever
seen a reason to.
