This appears to be a problem in the MockMessagingService infrastructure as the
number of syns varies between either 3 or zero depending on whether the test is
run in isolation or the suite. I thought perhaps the same issue that is
causing CASSANDRA-16607 was at fault here, but applying Andres' patch doesn't
change anything here. :(
