Let me look into the ReaderThread to make it multi-threaded.

I don't see the reason to have two different sentinel conditions, why not just 
use NO_ROW in both cases?

This is because the expected key is sorted. NO_KEY would possibly show up in 
the top when the queue has not yet been consumed.
