T Jake Luciani commented on CASSANDRA-1311: ------------------------------------------- Hi Martin, I'm interested in learning more about your new approach. I think the concerns over the current approach are summed up by: bq. This sounds really, really fragile. Grafting a pseudo-master onto Cassandra replication is a bad idea. I think for version 1 of triggers we need to go with the simplest approach. I believe this is to make the triggers synchronous and run RF times. Another possibility is to make the coordinator node responsible for running/delegating the trigger before acknowledging a successful write... As we bake out new ideas we can look at improving this, but I do think a simple trigger mechanism is needed for 1.0. > Support (asynchronous) triggers > ------------------------------- > > Key: CASSANDRA-1311 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CASSANDRA-1311 > Project: Cassandra > Issue Type: New Feature > Components: Contrib > Reporter: Maxim Grinev > Fix For: 1.0 > > Attachments: HOWTO-PatchAndRunTriggerExample-update1.txt, > HOWTO-PatchAndRunTriggerExample.txt, ImplementationDetails-update1.pdf, > ImplementationDetails.pdf, trunk-967053.txt, trunk-984391-update1.txt, > trunk-984391-update2.txt > > > Asynchronous triggers is a basic mechanism to implement various use cases of > asynchronous execution of application code at database side.
