I am writing to address a concern regarding the recent upgrade from Cassandra 3 to Cassandra 4.0.10. Specifically, I have noticed the introduction of an additional dependency, namely "java-cup-runtime-11b-20160615.jar." Upon further investigation, it has come to my attention that this dependency is declared as GPL-Compatible. While I understand that introducing Apache dependencies into GPL is generally permissible, the inclusion of a GPL-Compatible dependency prompts some questions about the necessity of this declaration. It seems that the addition of the GPL-Compatible declaration might be an extra layer of complexity, considering that Apache cannot include GPL dependencies. However, in the case of "java-cup-runtime-11b-20160615.jar," which is GPL-Compatible, it appears to be compliant with Apache licensing. I would appreciate some clarification on whether this declaration is indeed necessary and whether it could potentially be seen as an additional step that may not be required. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I believe resolving this inquiry will contribute to a better understanding of the dependencies introduced in Cassandra 4.0.10 and ensure compliance with licensing standards. !image-2023-12-19-11-36-49-151.png!!image-2023-12-19-11-37-32-251.png! -- This message was sent by Atlassian Jira (v8.20.10#820010) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: commits-unsubscr...@cassandra.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: commits-h...@cassandra.apache.org
