for those users they can stop the node, do the scrub, then do the upgrade...
that would allow the migration, but a bit annoying. Is there some history with
this field that can help figure things out? if the fixup caused issues so
users could opt-out then this should prob be improved in 4.0/4.1... if this was
a "just in case" then maybe scrub is the best option for 5.0 upgrade?
