There is actually a problem with the new test class that I posted, whereby some
state is not fully cleaned up between tests. So this only manifests when all
multiple tests are run, not when they execute in isolation.
As this will need to land in 6.0, I've pushed a new branch based on that with
Nivy's commit, plus the additional test fix here:

I've triggered CI runs on both this and the trunk based version and I'll post
the results when they complete.
