Jonathan Ellis commented on CASSANDRA-6190:
-------------------------------------------

It has to be 32bit as well.
http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/technotes/guides/vm/server-class.html

> Cassandra 2.0 won't start up with Java 7u40 with Client JVM. (works on
> Server JVM, and both JVMs 7u25)

> Project: Cassandra
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: Config
> Environment: Ubuntu 13.04 32- and 64-bit JDK 7u40 (tried JRE 7u25)

>
> Java 7u40 on some platforms do not recognize the the -XX:+UseCondCardMark JVM
> option. 7u40 on Macintosh works correctly, If I use the tarball 7u40
> version of 7, we encounter the error below. I tried 7u25 (the previous
> release) and it functioned correctly.
> ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ Unrecognized VM option 'UseCondCardMark'
> Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
> Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.
