[~jasobrown] Can we schedule requests to the appropriate stage directly from 
thrift selector threads? I guess it would be better to stall in front of the 
pipeline instead (although we will need some QoS logic so writes can still go 
if reads are stalled and vice versa) of hiding the latency and timing out...
