Bogdan Batranut created CASSANDRA-7127: ------------------------------------------
Summary: Add command to reclaim disk space for dropped column families Key: CASSANDRA-7127 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CASSANDRA-7127 Project: Cassandra Issue Type: New Feature Components: Core Reporter: Bogdan Batranut Priority: Trivial Fix For: 2.1 beta2 I found out that after a DROP a column family's data is not deleted. I looked into the /data/keyspace dir and saw dirs corresponding to old columnfamilies that I have dropped in the past. I do see the benefit of taking snapshots when dropping but I can also see the need to reclaim disk space. During developent on a cluster that will be in production, people might push a lot of data into a columnfamily and change the definition for some reason. The old unused data will eat a lot of space. So can you please implement a feature that will reclaim badly used disk space? Thank you. -- This message was sent by Atlassian JIRA (v6.2#6252)
