Path like {{db:year}} causes expression parser to fail even if this is a normal 
DB attribute name.
There's no workaround for this, if you need to parse expression from string.

Fix would be to allow such names for explicit path syntax (i.e. for {{obj:}}, 
{{db:}}, {{dbid:}} and {{enum:}}). If needed this could be added to the simple 
object path as well at the cost of some performance degradation.
