If so that is ok because we would like to give the operator the possibility to configure it and spring is comile time - they cannot be configured using log4j xml? this would be a (grave?) lack of feature. but not really a serious bug. I'd say create a backlog issue and solve later. In any way, I think it is not impeding your work here, or is it? The current work is to port existing log functionality to log4j2 and not to exploit log4j2 fully. If file -, snmp - and console appenders work we should be mostly done.
