   I can confirm this is happening on Windows 10 and Ubuntu 24.04 for me, also. 
It only happens if I use a launch.json and I start the extension already in 
light mode. If I open just the data editor, it looks like this.

   It also looks like that if I change the theme when the data editor is 
already open.
