Olabusayo Kilo commented on DAFFODIL-2029:
------------------------------------------

Steve thought maybe if we did decide to implement LU='characters' for
variableWidth, we would probably need to add and keep track of characterLength
(in addition to contentLength and valueLength) that keeps track of truncated
(if needed) things. For now, we're punting as Mike said since this if low
priority.

> Support unparsing lengthKind="prefixed" with lengthUnits="characters"

> DAFFODIL-114 added support for lengthKind="prefixed", but does not yet
> support unparsing when lengthUnits="characters". However this is implemented
> can likely be shared with the implementation for dfdl:content-length and
> dfdl:value-length functions where the second paramter is "characters", which
> is also unimplemented.
