The runtime BTree selection feature is now proposed upstream in https://github.com/lance-format/lance-c/pull/98. This PR is draft while that change is reviewed. After the upstream PR merges, I will update the dependency to the latest upstream main commit containing the feature and remove the new local runtime-selection patch and its application/checksum handling. The pre-existing Foyer patch is separate. The standalone upstream implementation passed 497 Rust tests, all three C/C++ compilation/execution tests, Rustfmt, Clippy, and Rustdoc locally.
