**Status:** Open: no fix PR
**Subject:** Maven project-model build aborts before any test runs (any
Maven job)
**Failures:** 2 · **First seen:** 2026-09-23 · **Last seen:** 2026-09-25
### Root cause
`Non-resolvable parent POM ... org.apache:apache:pom:NN (absent): Could not
transfer artifact ... from/to ${repoOrgId} (${repoOrgUrl})`. A transient
Central download failure, or a cached `absent` marker, makes Maven fall back to
a repository declared with unresolved placeholders. Other jobs in the same run
resolved the POM fine.
### Suggested fix
Pre-resolve `org.apache:apache` in the `~/.m2` warm-up step with retries,
delete `*.lastUpdated` files before the build, and enable HTTP retries in
`.mvn/maven.config`.
### Occurrences
Failed push-triggered master jobs only. The daily triage routine adds one
row per new failed job.
