ServiceMix Kernel is an enhanced OSGi container with additional features that ServiceMix is using as a deployment platform. The ESB features will be provided by the NMR subproject that will be deployed on top of ServiceMix Kernel. This also means that you can use ServiceMix Kernel as an OSGi container for other OSGi based applications (e.g. SMX4KNL:Running Apache Sling on ServiceMix Kernel)
