To me, it seems like 1.8.2 as minimum boundary for NumPy was set on purpose and we're not able to lower it as other dependencies rely on it. Otherwise, we'd have to downgrade more and more dependencies and could run into compatibility problems. I think we should work on other solutions and revisit this approach.
