Nathan Christiansen commented on NETBEANS-904:
----------------------------------------------

The default Monospace font seems to lack the CJK code pages. I think NB used to
show fallback fonts for CJK characters, but before JDK 8.0.

I can work around this by setting the editor's font for default text to a font
that has the CJK code pages. (Noto Sans Mono CJK TC;  Noto Sans Mono CJK Jp; or
Noto Sans Mono CJK Kr). However the monospace of the lower 256 ASCII characters
these are not quite monospaced and therefore things do not quite align properly.

It would be nice to add the ability to set Monospace font and have the editor
find an appropriate font for the UTF-8 range that the main font cannot display.

> Currently I can't type text that the font cannot represents.(It is displayed

> I would like to use back-up font options like _Fallback Fonts_ in IntelliJ
> IDEA.
