craig, you can just download the zip distribution if that helps. The "old
plugins" might have been compressed with pack200 an old bytecode specific
compression alg which has been given up and does not exist anymore on newer
JDKs.
NB is very much community driven now, if there is enough interest in python
support someone will make it, the editor infrastructure is there. But all that
doesn't really have anything to do with the original issue, so lets try to not
derail it.
