Bertrand Delacretaz commented on NETBEANS-165:
----------------------------------------------
>From the Apache point of view, one option is to use the existing mirror
>infrastructure described at https://www.apache.org/dev/mirrors
But that might depend on the envisioned amount of traffic, do you know how much
bandwidth these updates represent?
If infra agrees based on the bandwidth requirements, I suggest putting binaries
in a separate dist folder like httpd does with
http://www.apache.org/dist/httpd/binaries/ to avoid confusing them with
releases.
The https://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.lua script provides a list of suggested
mirrors with a preferred one, I don't know if it can provide that in machine
form so far.
As [~humbedooh] is a NetBeans mentor he might have more comments on this.
> Move official update center to Apache infra

> We should move the IDE update center over to Apache infra.
> Right now we are using http://updates.netbeans.org/
> (/netbeans/updates/8.2/uc/final ) on Oracle infra.
> Since it's just files with no real backend any HTTP server / mirror would do.
> If this is too much work we might just have no update center for the 1st
> builds.
