Neil C Smith commented on NETBEANS-163:
---------------------------------------

Actually, think Bertrand's suggestion about the license acceptance dialog makes
sense - could extend current text that says "In order to continue with the
installation, you need to agree with all of the license agreements associated
with the particular plugins."? Although same text is currently shown for all
sources.

Still feel like we've answered the lesser question in the disclaimer about
pointing to the plugin centre, without answering the what, where, how of what
it's linking to? As I mentioned in that thread, I think we should look to keep
the plugin portal catalog.xml within Apache infrastructure and link to
externally hosted binaries. Such an approach would also help with the nb-javac
query?

> According to our mentors we can keep the Plugin Portal (

> ) but we might need a disclaimer:
> bq. Providing a way to install non-Apache plugins at runtime is fine IMO, as
> long as there's no confusion regarding their provenance.
> bq. NetBeans should have a visible disclaimer that such plugins are not
> endorsed by Apache and installed at the user's own risk. I suppose there's a
> dialog for accepting the plugin's licences, that disclaimer could be there.
> We already show 'Community Contributed Plugin' in Plugins | Available
> Plugins. Perhaps it would be simpler to add a disclaimer there?
