Thanks @cederom. About the CI failure: the only failing job is `Linux
(arm-09)`, configuration `nucleo-g431rb/cansock`, which overflowed the 128 KB
flash by 28 bytes at link time. It does not use `brctl`, so it is unrelated to
this PR.
That overflow was fixed by apache/nuttx#20577 ("boards/stm32g4: enable LTO
on cansock configurations"), which was merged into master after this CI run had
started. The CI should pass when run again against the current master.
