I did not try that. I downloaded TomEE from here:-
http://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.cgi/openejb/4.0.0-beta-1/apache-tomee-1.0.0-beta-1-webprofile.tar.gz
After I extract the files, I did not find the logs directory empty.
