I thought about this some more. The case I mentioned above is likely rare. I think: 1. Metric columns should not have a dictionary by default. This will generally make aggregations faster. 2. If a user decides to add a dictionary for a metric column, they should get one no matter what, without needing to understand any other configurations -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
